The rate for an intake appointment is $160, and all subsequent appointments are $140. This can be paid using health insurance or by paying out of pocket on a sliding scale.

A sliding scale is a way of determining a fair and equitable price per session for clients who do not use health insurance. If a client cannot afford to pay the full cost per session, we can adjust the cost based on that client’s income. My sliding scale for a regular appointment starts at $140 and can be adjusted down to $80. Similarly, an intake appointment can be adjusted from $160 to $100. Using a sliding scale allows more people to access therapy while paying what is fair based on their ability. Clients who self-pay will be given a Good Faith Estimate in accordance with the No Surprises Act.

A Good Faith Estimate is used to help eliminate surprise bills for medical services. By receiving an estimated cost for therapy services, a client can make a fully educated decision about whether to start therapy, as well as be protected from unexpected costs. If you will not be using health insurance to pay for therapy, I will provide a Good Faith Estimate before we begin our work together.

I am in-network with CDPHP and Highmark/BlueShield of Northeastern New York. I can also provide superbills for clients to pursue reimbursement from their out-of-network insurance company.

Your appointment slot is reserved just for you, so it is important to let me know as soon as possible if you are not going to be able to make it. A fee of $75 is charged for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, and $100 is charged for a no-show. I also reserve the right to postpone rescheduling until all fees have been paid.

I use a HIPAA-compliant online platform for telehealth sessions, and the link for each meeting will be accessed through your client portal. We will also identify a back-up meeting plan in case any technical issues arise. You will want to ensure that you have a private space with a good internet connection in order to get the most out of your telehealth sessions. Additionally, because I am a New York State licensed provider, I am only able to see telehealth clients while they are physically located in New York at the time of the appointment.

I primarily use Psychodynamic therapy in my work, which aims to uncover the unconscious driving forces behind our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. By increasing insight into the “why,” we become better equipped to disrupt patterns that are no longer serving us and make intentional choices based on our values instead.
I also draw from other therapeutic modalities when needed, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP), Narrative therapy, and Feminist therapy.

The first session will be all about getting to know you and what is bringing you into therapy. I usually start with a quick overview of any policies or information you’ll need to know, and then we can jump right in to discussing your history and your goals. I will probably ask a lot of questions to make sure I’m understanding everything correctly, and hopefully by the end of our time together we have a clear picture of where you want to go and how we’re going to get there.

It depends! Some people find that they meet their goals rather quickly once they decide to start therapy, and for others it can take longer. Anywhere from a few months to a few years is typical, and there is no value judgment on it one way or another. Many factors influence how long it can take, including life or financial circumstances, the history and severity of the presenting issue, appointment consistency, level of motivation, the strength of the therapeutic relationship, and so much more.
